Featuring The Adventures of Figaro
Based on Rossini’s Barber of Seville. A new Opera Queensland performing version by Lindy Hume & Craig Allister Young.
Fifth Avenue Palm Beach becomes the setting for a massive street party, al fresco dining under the stars, and a free outdoor performance of Opera Queensland’s The Adventures of Figaro. Buildings, facades, balconies and the Fifth Avenue streetscape are their stage as the cast, in fabulously colourful costumes, sings, dances, acts and roams their way through 90 entertaining minutes of musical sitcom.
The Adventures of Figaro will thrill audiences with the harebrained tale of the lively Figaro as he attempts to help Count Almaviva (his former boss) rescue Rosina from the clutches of the doddery Doctor Bartolo.
OperaQ’s Lindy Hume will direct this dynamic adaptation of Rossini’s much loved opera accompanied by an effervescent new musical arrangement by Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s Craig Allister Young.
Prepare to be transported to the laneways of Granada and feast on international cuisine from local restaurants and pop-up stalls, as the carnivale atmosphere sweeps across the streets of Palm Beach.
Also performing at Feast on Bleach* is Sarazu, featuring Kacey Patrick and Andrew Veivers.
The Adventures of Figaro is supported by The Playing Queensland Fund and arTour, initiatives of the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland, part of the Department of Science, Information Technology, Innovation and the Arts.
